Driven by World Childhood Foundation

In 2020, the Rainbow Foundation and Childhood started a joint initiative to draw attention to and strengthen the work against sexual abuse of boys. Research shows that boys who are sexually abused are often not covered by legislation, not seen in the statistics and often do not report to the police or tell their families what happened due to fear and shame.

Rainbow children (children who are gay, bi and trans) in their search for identity often have no choice but to approach highly sexualized adult environments where they risk being exploited by older people. Their first sexual contacts are therefore often abusive.

- I myself was abused as a child, and almost all gay guys I know have such experiences, says Jonas Gardell, who is an ambassador for the Rainbow Foundation. - It is so common that we have taken it for normal.

Boys and rainbow children who are sexually abused are two clear and partially overlapping groups where children are made invisible and the invisibility has been able to function and continues to function as a protection for the perpetrators.

The Rainbow Foundation and Childhood collaborate within a joint initiative that we call THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN, where, together, we finance projects in Cambodia, Moldavia and Ukraine.
